The tartan worn by the band since the early 1990s is called New Perthshire Muted and is shown below. Previous to that it was Royal Stewart.
Many bands have come and gone then, perhaps, resurfaced but the Perth and District Pipe Band has been in continuous existence since the latter part of the 19th century. Our original constitution dates back to 1911. Thanks to the archives of the AK Bell Library in Perth we have photos of the band from as early as the 1909.

The band plays at a variety of types of engagements eg competitions, gala days, shows, weddings, charity events and various functions for Perth and Kinross Council. To mark the longstanding relationship with the band, the Council presented a banner in 2011. At the same time the Pipe Major was appointed to the position of City Piper, restoring an arrangement which fell by the wayside in 1975 when Perth was swallowed up within Tayside Region.
